About the Role
- We are looking for a Skilled Data Scientist with deep expertise in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector indices, and document and code chunking techniques.
In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize AI pipelines that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of large-scale data retrieval and generation systems.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate these technologies into production environments, solving complex problems in natural language processing, knowledge retrieval, and AI-driven applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the development and deployment of RAG-based systems, integrating retrieval mechanisms with generative models to improve response quality and reduce hallucinations in AI outputs.
- Design and maintain vector indices for high-dimensional embeddings, ensuring scalable and low-latency similarity searches across large datasets.
- Implement advanced document and code chunking strategies, including semantic splitting, overlap management, and metadata enrichment to optimize embedding generation and retrieval performance.
- Implement testing to evaluate and fine-tune RAG pipelines, vector search algorithms, and chunking methods for precision, recall, and computational efficiency.
- Collaborate with your colleagues to integrate these components into cloud-based Solutions and monitor system performance in real-time.
- Analyse large datasets to identify patterns, build custom embeddings, and develop hybrid retrieval systems that combine keyword, semantic, and vector-based approaches.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in AI retrieval technologies and contribute to internal knowledge sharing, research papers, or open-source projects.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on best practices for RAG, vector indexing, and data preprocessing.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role, with a proven track record in AI/ML projects.
- Strong proficiency in Python (essential), with hands-on experience in libraries such as LangChain, Hugging Face Transformers, Sentence Transformers, and vector databases and tools.
- Demonstrated expertise in RAG architectures, including building custom retrievers, re-rankers, and integration with LLMs (e.g., GPT, Llama).
- In-depth knowledge of vector indices, including index types (e.g., HNSW, IVF), quantization techniques, and optimization for high-throughput queries.
- Experience with document and code chunking, such as using recursive splitting, token-based chunking, or tools like Unstructured.io for handling diverse formats (PDFs, code repositories, etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and version control (Git).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle ambiguous requirements and deliver production-ready solutions.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with graph databases or knowledge graphs to enhance RAG systems.
- Knowledge of evaluation metrics for retrieval systems and generative outputs.
- Active Programming in at least 2 of these Programming languages (Python, C, C++, C#, Java)
- Extensive experience with NoSQL databases
